New Container Style

Adam Caplin

Thanks to, among other things, readers' inventiveness, the pages of Weekend Gardener carry lots of tips on unusual and creative containers.

Here, though, is a whole book that exhorts you to look no further than the kitchen cupboard, the junk shop or your own backyard for interesting, funky pots for plants.

Old, painted tyres, teapots, chimney stacks and beer cans are among containers pressed into use in Caplin's craft.

There are plenty of ideas here. There's also a directory of the author's favourite plants, tipped to thrive in pots and retain their appeal for a long time.
