Unwanted tree stumps

Do you have any tips on removing very large dead tree stumps which the previous owners of our property thought unimportant to remove?

I have the same problem with unwanted stumps. If they have been there long enough, they may have rotted enough to be removed by digging and chopping the roots with an axe. The roots under the ground will eventually rot. The stumps could be left in the ground, with soil and compost piled on top — they will eventually rot. Alternatively, a stump grinder can be hired from a hire place such as Hirepool. It is on a small trailer so the stumps would need to be in an accessible place, a stump grinder has a big blade on it that mulches up the roots.
