Subtropicals magazine

Subtropicals magazine was published from 2002 to 2006 by the Subtropicals Society as "a forum for the exchange of ideas and information on the identification, growth requirements and sourcing of native and exotic subtropical plants (and tropicals) suitable for gardens in the milder parts of New Zealand." The Subtropicals Society was founded and driven by Marjorie Lowe, and held annual conferences and plant sales events as well as publishing the magazine.

Marjorie Lowe was the editor of Subtropicals magazine, supported by a group of Advisory Members.

Marjorie's family kindly granted permission to scan the magazine and make the content freely available online, for non-commercial use only.

We thank Geoffrey Marshall for providing his hardcopies of Subtropicals and for organising the scanning and permissions to reproduce and make available the content as PDFs. The Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund met the digitisation costs as part of the 'Taking Stock' project funded in 2020.
